Kent State University Students Learn From the Best in Cleveland Advertising

KSU Advertising students Isabelle Jones and Brianne Kimmel received scholarships from the annual American Advertising Federation Education Foundation Scholarship Program. Both students were second year recipients of AAF scholarships, Jones received this year’s Marcus Thomas and Wyse Family Scholarships and Kimmel was the recipient of the Arras Group and Wyse Family Scholarships.

As members of the American Advertising Federation, both students attended the annual Communications Career Day. This event provides opportunities to learn from area advertising and media professionals and network for future jobs and internships. Kimmel accepted her award at the January Luncheon on January 26th, Jones was unable to attend due to schedule conflicts.

Professional organizations, such as the American Advertising Federation, provide additional experience not available in the classroom.  Getting career advice and mentorship from advertising professionals is a vital resource for students just starting out in the field. Networking opportunities from golf outings to monthly luncheons with keynote industry speakers gives students an added knowledge of their future careers. Building your personal brand is just as important as your classroom experience, and professional organizations give you resources to market yourself to future employers.
