Campus Fashionista Interns at Luxury Lifestyle PR Firm

Danie Minor at Chic Communication

Junior public relations major Danie Minor found her niche in luxury lifestyle PR. This summer, she brought her unique style and skills to Chic Communications, a PR and marketing firm in her home state of Maryland.

Chic Communications is a small communications firm that specializes in fashion, beauty, health, wellness and hospitality in the Annapolis and Baltimore area. The firm works with clients ranging from salons and real estate agencies to ABC’s “Extreme Makeover Home Edition,” “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette.”

Minor, who contributes to Kent State’s HerCampus blog and runs her own fashion blog Defining Danie, started her internship search in February.

“I did not want to go back to my regular summer job,” Minor said. “I wanted to start getting out into the real world and gain some experience in the field that I cannot wait to go into.”

At Chic Communications, Minor was able to work directly with owner and account manager in the office.

“There are some days where we are in the office working on social media, and there are other days when we are at a photo shoot for a client,” Minor said.

Minor said many of her classes throughout her Kent State education have prepared her for her internship. Minor said being in the Global Advertising and Public Relations course this past spring really set her apart from other people interviewing for the internship position.

“I am learning so much this summer,” Minor said. “I am loving every minute of it!”
