5 Reasons to Register for the YouToo Social Media Conference

by Gabrielle Woodard

Registration for the daylong, Friday, April 8, YouToo Social Media Conference, an annual workshop hosted at Kent State University each spring, is now open. Co-hosted by the Akron Area Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the Kent State University Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, YouToo allows participants to hear from professional speakers from around the region and the country to educate student and professional attendees about current trends in social media. Here are the top five reasons YOU should register for YouToo today:

Learn about trends in the PR industry

By networking with and listening to professionals in the field, you’ll stay updated on current integrated marketing trends.

Learn from the industry’s best.

Each year, PRSA and PRSSA invite social media all-stars from across the country to serve as keynote speakers. This year, Scott Monty will be the keynote speaker. If founding his own integrated marketing communications firm wasn’t cool enough, he’s also worked for Ford Motor Company and has had clients like IBM Healthcare and Life Sciences, Coca-Cola, American Airlines, T-Mobile, GE Software and more.

Learn how to apply things you learned in class.

There’s nothing better than being able understand why the things you are learning in class are important. It’s an even bigger step to be able to apply them. At YouToo, you learn how industry professionals are applying these best practices to real-world situations.

Network with students and professionals.

Student attendees are given one of the best networking opportunities by attending YouToo. Student attendees can sign up for a mentorship program, where they are paired directly with a professional for the day. There aren’t many events that bring professionals to you!

Learn how to live tweet.

Live tweeting is multitasking at its finest. It’s also a great way to get to know other people both in the room and out of the room and bond over similar points of view. Join the conversation with the hashtag #YouToo2016.
