What I Learned From Career Expo

By Shane Beneke ’17

I attended last year’s Career Expo as a junior. Career Expo was a great way to start off looking for potential internships and job opportunities.

It was beneficial to have a one-on-one interaction with great organizations and have them interview with you right on the spot, plus it allowed you to fully communicate your skills and show off your personal brand.

I think it’s an amazing way for CCI students to acquire their first taste of the job seeking experience and learn the proper do’s and don’ts of interviewing, building a resume, and branding. Even before I registered, I was excited to see all the different employers and different industries that would be presenting at the expo.

Really interesting organizations that stood out to me were the Greater Cleveland Aquarium, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Great PR agencies were also in attendance like Marcus Thomas and Akhia, so it was awesome as PR major to reach out to these places.

I would encourage everyone in a CCI school to attend a Career Expo as it’s a more relaxed version of a typical career fair and that only students with similar majors can network with employers that are relevant to their career interests.

Career Expo 2017 is Wednesday, March 1. Learn more here: http://bit.ly/2jtQpQu
